(Miami, FL) - Florida residents with GEICO auto insurance need to check the status of their driver's license after a reporting error led to wrongful suspensions.

Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez says all counties were notified that some policies renewed in the first quarter were mistakenly reported to the state as canceled.

He says drivers with "active coverage" may receive a suspension notice or see a pending suspension on their record.

GEICO customers you can check their license status through the state’s online portal and personally make the correction.

Fernandez says the state sent a notice to all tax collectors and he does not know how many GEICO customers are affected by the glitch.

He says, "Even though officials say they fixed the problem, it's better for GEICO customers to check on their license status themselves."
