The Miami city commission is set to vote Thursday on a contract extension for the Ultra Music Festival to keep the music event at Bayfront Park for the next two decades.

Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo says they deferred the vote to allow for more public input on the quality-of-life impact of noise, traffic, and park access.

The proposed contract extension includes a $2 million base rent with 4% annual increases. It also allows for a 28-day closure of Bayfront Park for setup and teardown.

The 3-day electronic dance music festival has a $200-million direct local economic impact according to a recent study.

Pardo says, the new contract would really be a year-to-year because it does contain a termination-for-convenience clause.
