(Tallahassee, FL) - Finally, the Florida legislature agreed on a budget proposal over the Memorial Day weekend.
The spending plan for the fiscal year that starts July 1 is just under $115 billion dollars which is more than the $113 billion proposed by the House.
The final package is $2 billion shy of Gov. Ron DeSantis' proposed $117 billion dollar spending plan.
A formal vote to pass the budget is officially set for this Friday and if approved the proposal goes to the governor's desk where he has line-item veto power.
The most ever axed by DeSantis' veto pen was more than $3 billion from the budget approved by the Legislature in 2022.

This is the second year in a row that lawmakers were unable to agree on a budget during the regular session.
