Justin Bieber is in the giving mood.
Hours after the release of his "Intentions" music video, which is all about giving back, the Biebs stopped by MTV's Fresh Out Live to gift a deserving fan, who is raising mental-health awareness, a whopping $100,000.
Justin surprised Julie Coker — the president of the Stockton University chapter of Active Minds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising mental health awareness among college students — by personally handing her a $100K check while on the MTV show in honor of her dedication to advocating for mental health.
The 22-year-old college student, who has helped screen nearly 3,700 people on her campus for suicide, depression and disordered eating behaviors since partnering with Active Minds, Billboard reports, thought she had been invited to Fresh Out Live to record a one-minute video promoting the nonprofit organization. So, she was admittedly shocked when Justin handed her the fact check. "I was very excited," she told the outlet.
“I work for mental health now because of my own mental health struggles in the past,” Julie additionally told the New York Post. “And it’s important for us to talk about mental health because more than 50% of us will have a mental-health challenge in our lifetime.”
She continued, “[Justin] has a big following, so if he has a good message about mental health, hopefully, everybody else . . . will want to start thinking about mental health in a different way."
