Governor DeSantis is touting water projects across the state of Florida.
In Palm Bay this morning, he announced a number of major grants that are aimed at improving water quality and quantity.
"We are awarding $389 million in these grants. And this includes $189 million in water quality improvement grants."
The governor also announced an additional $55 million to expand 14 alternative water supply projects and $100 million for the newly established Indian River Lagoon protection program.
"With today's awards, we've now invested nearly $500 million in water quality improvements in this area alone since I became governor in 2019."
DeSantis says he is proposing another $550 million to continue advancing water quality improvements during the next fiscal year. Legislators would have to approve the funding request during the current Legislative session.
Also with the governor was Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Alexis Lambert and Chauncey Goss, Chairman of the South Florida Water Management District Board.
