The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a new three-year, $63 million contract extension with All-Pro middle linebacker Fred Warner, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported on Monday (May 19).

"The #49ers and All-Pro LB Fred Warner have agreed to terms on a new 3-year contract extension worth $63M, per me and @MikeGarafolo. The deal done by Justin Schulman of @AthletesFirst makes Warner, the perennial Pro Bowler, the NFL’s highest-paid LB. He gets $56.7M guaranteed," Rapoport wrote on his X account.

Warner, 28, widely regarded as the best middle linebacker in the NFL, is coming off his third consecutive season as a first-team All-Pro and fourth since 2020, having recorded 131 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, two QB hits, four forced fumbles, seven passes defensed and two interceptions, including one for a touchdown.

Warner is the third key 49ers player to receive a massive extension in recent weeks following starting quarterback Brock Purdy and All-Pro tight end George Kittle.

Purdy agreed to a five-year, $265 million contract extension, his agent, Kyle Strongin of Range Sports confirmed to NFL Network's The Insiders on May 16. Kittle agreed to a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension, he revealed on the Bussin' With The Boys podcast on April 29.

Purdy, 25, who enters his fourth season since being selected at No. 262 overall, the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was first eligible for a contract extension after the conclusion of the 2024 season in adherence with league rules. The former Iowa State standout was the cheapest full-time starting quarterback in the NFL with only $1.004 million counting against the 49ers' salary cap last season.

Kittle, 31, will be paid $40 million in guaranteed money as part of the new deal, which is expected to lower his 2025 salary cap number scheduled to be $22,085,000, a cap hit that would exceed his previous highest cap hit by just less than $10 million. The tight end has publicly vowed to continue playing "until the wheels fall off," which appears to be for the only NFL team he's ever known, having been selected by the Niners in the fifth-round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
