A deadly wrong way crash on the turnpike Monday morning near Coconut Creek in Broward is under investigation.
This morning's accident happened around 4:30 a.m. right before the Pompano Service Plaza and is shutting down all northbound lanes.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 19- years old Hispanic male from Oviedo was driving a Mercedes northbound when he was hit head-on on the driver's side by an unknown driver of an Acura traveling southbound in the wrong direction.
A 22-year-old Hispanic male occupant in the Mercedes from Key West was transported to North Broward Medical Center where he remains hospitalized.
Northbound lanes of the turnpike north of Commercial were closed until 10 a.m. for investigation and cleanup.
