(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida is planning to execute two inmates in one day this month.

Governor Ron DeSantis is resetting the execution date for former Lake County police officer James Duckett. His March execution was stayed due to an inconclusive DNA test.

The Florida Supreme Court lifted the stay on July 8th and now Duckett will be put to death at noon on July 28th, the same day Dominick Anthony Occhicone is scheduled to die for the 1986 murder of his ex-girlfriend's parents.

Governor Ron DeSantis signed Duckett's death warrant Tuesday, the same day Florida executed 74-year-old Dennis Sochor for the 1981 murder of 18-year-old Patricia Gifford.

If the lethal injections proceed, this will be Florida's first-ever same-day double execution. Arkansas executed two inmates in one day in 2017.
