SOUNDGARDEN: No New Music Before Hall Induction
Soundgarden fans won't get to hear their last songs from Chris Cornell before the band is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 8th in Los Angeles. Drummer Matt Cameron told Billboard, "There were a couple schools of thought, like, ‘Hey, let’s put out a single.’ I think eventually we decided we want to make sure the whole thing is completed before we start releasing singles. I’m excited for people to hear it.”The album features material they started with Cornell in 2015 and was the subject of a long legal dispute between the band and Cornell’s widow Vicky Cornell. Chris Cornell committed suicide in May 2017.
Cameron said “We’re definitely over halfway done with it. Kim [Thayil] is in the process of finishing his guitar parts; he wants to make sure they get exactly the way he wants them."
He added, “Hearing (Cornell’s) voice on these powerful hard rock songs is the most empowering thing in the world for me. Then I listen to his voice soloed up when I’m working on stuff, or if Kim or Ben [Shephard] is working on something, and it all comes back to the fact that he’s not with us and he left us in a way that has so many questions. It’s been gut-wrenching but at the same time very empowering."
Matt Cameron Says Rock Hall Induction With Soundgarden Is More Meaningful Than With Pearl Jam
Drummer Matt Cameron, a longtime member of both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, will soon be a two-time inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That's thanks to his work with both bands. However, he says his upcoming induction with Soundgarden will be "a little more meaningful" than his induction with Pearl Jam in 2017.During a conversation with Billboard, Cameron said being inducted with both bands is a "huge honor" but he feels like he's made a greater contribution to Soundgarden so it's more meaningful to him as an artist and musician. He explained that he helped create Soundgarden's sound, while Pearl Jam was already more established when he joined. Along with Soundgarden, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2025 includes The White Stripes, Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, and more.
PEARL JAM: Cameron Got Tired of Touring Grind
Matt Cameron says part of his decision to leave Pearl Jam this year had to do with the grind of touring. Cameron told Billboard, “I was having some issues with (Pearl Jam’s) three-hour shows and constant touring and stuff. That’s definitely an art form unto itself; to be able to do those types of shows…I’m at a point now where I want to do a face-melting 70-minute set, and that’s kind of what I’m focusing on right now.” Cameron added that his departure was amicable. “I definitely gave them a lot of notice. I’ve spoken with Jeff [Ament] and Stone
[Gossard] a little bit…It’s been fine. Hopefully we’ll get back together at some point and have a beer or something.”

BEATLES: They Worked it Out
Just about a month after The Beatles announced the release of the Anthology Collection, which will include more unreleased demos, session recordings and other rarities, comes word that these new additions to their previously released Anthology series will be released separately -- on two CDs or three LPs -- as Anthology 4. Apparently, their company, Apple Corps, along with Universal Music Recordings, were inundated with complaints over having to re-purchase the three double albums that came out in 1995 and '96, even if they have been remastered.
Set for release on November 21st, Anthology Collection contains never-heard versions of “In My Life,” “Nowhere Man,” “If I Fell,” “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and an unreleased rehearsal for the BBC broadcast of “All You Need Is Love.” It also includes new mixes of the two John Lennon demos that Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr finished for Anthology 1 and 2 — “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” — featuring Lennon's vocals being de-mixed. The “Free as a Bird” video has also been restored and it's out now on YouTube. The reissue of Anthology now contains 191 tracks spread over eight CDs, 12 LPs and digitally. Both box sets include the original sleeve notes, and Anthology 4 includes track notes and an introduction compiled from 1996 interviews recorded with the late Derek Taylor, the Beatles’ close friend, adviser and publicist. The Beatles Store’s exclusive editions for both box sets add four 12-inch band photo art cards in a numbered envelope.
The documentary adds a ninth episode that includes unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul, George and Ringo coming together between 1994 and 1995 to work on Anthology and reflecting on their shared life as The Beatles. It will start streaming on Disney+ on November 26th. There is no physical release date.
