Ghost's Mexico City Show Was Filmed For Upcoming Concert Movie
After the success of the first one, why wouldn’t you do it again? Ghost filmed their final two shows of the "Skeletour" in Mexico City for a future concert movie. The band's first Mexico City show on September 23rd was canceled because frontman Tobias Forge had food poisoning. But the next two shows on September 24th and 25th at the 20,000-seat Palacio De Los Deportes were filmed on 16mm film. Ghost posted on social media that they shot everything "for the rest of the world to see at some point." The "Skeletour" was Ghost's most theatrical production yet, with a stage design that mixed gothic church symbols with modern concrete architecture.

Paul McCartney Sang The Beatles "Help!" In Full For The First Time In 35 Years
Paul McCartney surprised fans by performing The Beatles classic “Help!” for the first time in 35 years during a warm-up show at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Friday. The concert came just before the launch of his North American “Got Back” tour in Palm Desert. McCartney opened the set with the 1965 hit, which hadn’t been on his playlist since 1990. Most of the remaining songs followed the format of his recent shows, though it’s unclear if he’ll add more surprises during the tour. Fan-shot footage of “Help!” from the soundcheck has surfaced, alongside clips of the last time he performed it in Chicago in 1990, and fans are having a blast comparing the two side-by-side. Check out the fan-footage from his recent set here (note: poor quality.)
JOHN LENNON: What Are Round Come Around Again
The tinted prescription glasses John Lennon wore in 1973 and '74 during the time that was dubbed his “Lost Weekend” are headed back to the auction block. He lost the specs in March 1974 during a fight at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California when he and an equally drunk Harry Nilsson were escorted out of the club after heckling The Smothers Brothers. The glasses first sold at auction in 1987 and again in 2008, and now they're being offered as part of Propstore’s Music Memorabilia Live Auction on October 24th. They're estimated to sell for between $200- and $400,000. Details at PropstoreAuction.com.
In other Lennon news, a video has been released for “Sunday Bloody Sunday” from the forthcoming box set, Power to the People (Super Deluxe Edition). It will be out on October 10th, the day after what would have been his 80th birthday. The song was written about the 13 marchers who were killed by members of the First Battalion, Parachute Regiment in Derry, Northern Ireland on January 30th, 1972, which has come to be known as "Bloody Sunday." The video reflects many of the senseless political murders since then, including his own on December 8th, 1980 as it ends with his bloody eyeglasses from that night.

Watt Reflects On Ozzy's Last Day
Producer Andrew Watt is reflecting on the passing of Ozzy Osbourne.Watt, who produced Osbourne's albums Ordinary Man and Patient Number 9, recalled how unexpected the news was to Rolling Stone, saying everything was normal the day before, "and the next day, the news was just a giant shock." Watt said Osbourne saw him "in a way that I did not see myself," adding that if you talk to anyone that loves him or was lucky enough to be loved by him, that's a constant thing.
JUDAS PRIEST & OZZY: From the Grave
Judas Priest's version of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," featuring Rob Halford trading vocals with Ozzy Osbourne, is out now. Priest -- who like Ozzy and Sabbath are also from Birmingham, England -- were asked to perform at their final show in the city on July 5th, Back to the Beginning, but they had committed to the Scorpions’ 60th anniversary show that day in Hannover, Germany. So, instead, they covered and released a version of "War Pigs" in tribute. Sharon Osbourne heard it, and Halford, in an interview said, "She approached me with this idea, saying, 'I love your version of 'War Pigs.' Is there a way we can get Ozzy?' I was [like], 'You're asking me? This is gonna happen.' "So you get Ozzy singing a line and then I'm singing a line and Ozzy's singing a line and I'm singing a line. It's the first ever time in my entire life that I've been able to do a duet with Ozzy and I'm so eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to do that."
All profits from the song will benefit The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation, named after Priest's guitarist who, like Ozzy, has the disease, and Cure Parkinson’s. And, like Ozzy, Tipton also plays on the song. Ozzy was 76 when he died of a heart attack at his Buckinghamshire estate on July 22nd. Priest are currently on tour with Alice Cooper with shows this weekend in Holmdel, New Jersey on Friday, and Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday.

Up close and personal… I have been documenting DG at work, play and on stage for over 20 years now, and next year there will also be an exhibition at Leica Gallery London of some of the older pictures. More news on that soon.” It will be published in the UK on October 16th in conjunction with the release of her husband's new live album, The Luck and Strange Concerts, and film, Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome -- both out on the 17th. KANSAS: Point of Known Members Returning
Four of the six original members of Kansas reunited Friday night during the band's show in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Guitarist Richard Williams, who just last month announced that he was cutting back on touring due to macular degeneration, came out for the final four songs of the set -- "Dust in the Wind," "Can I Tell You," "Down the Road" and "Miracles Out of Nowhere." He then returned for the encore of "Hold On" and "Carry on Wayward Son" with drummer Phil Ehart, who no longer tours after suffering a heart attack last year; guitarist and primary songwriter Kerry Livgren, who left in the early '80s, although he has been in and out a few times since; and bassist Dave Hope, who left in 2000. Singer Steve Walsh, who left in 2014, was not on hand, and violinist and vocalist Robby Steinhardt died in 2021.
OASIS: Raising Money for U.K. Schools
Oasis are using the popularity of their reunion tour to help music programs in U.K. public schools. For Project Rock N’ Roll Stars, the band will sell prints of handwritten lyrics for some of their most iconic tracks, including "Wonderwall," "Don’t Look Back in Anger," "Champagne Supernova" and, of course, "Rock ’n’ Roll Star." The collection includes a screen-print of a photo of Liam and Noel Gallagher walking out on stage hand-in-hand at London’s Wembley Stadium earlier this summer. The prints will be on sale until November 25th, and all of Oasis's royalties will go to donating instruments to music programs in public schools.
BUSH: New Video and Resources to "Beat Loneliness"
Gavin Rossdale has spoken about how Bush's new album I Beat Loneliness deals with mental health issues, and now the band is encouraging fans to get the help they need with a new video for the title track. The clip, which is on YouTube, mixes live performance and Rossdale surrounded by a number of cameras filming him from every angle. The band wrote about the clip, "If you or anyone need someone to talk to for mental health, suicidal thoughts or addiction, please see [these] resources for you. Wherever you are we love you." They then link to We Connect, Open Couseling and the International Association for Suicide Prevention.
WEEZER: Bassist's Wife to Avoid Jail for Shooting Incident
Jillian Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, will avoid jail time for the shooting incident involving L.A. cops back in April. She was granted a two-year mental health diversion program on Thursday, and if she completes the program the felony charges against her will be dismissed. Shriner will have to abstain from illicit drugs and alcohol, continue to participate in weekly therapy sessions, undergo random drug and alcohol testing, and attend at least three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week. She is also not allowed to own or possess any guns or knives while under the program. The felony weapons charges came after Shriner allegedly brandished a handgun at officers and fired from her yard while they were searching for suspects in a nearby hit-and-run incident. Police said that Shriner refused to comply with multiple orders for her to drop the gun, prompting officers to open fire and strike her in the arm.
